The Power of Your Words

The power of your words… What are you saying? There is a scripture in the bible that says, “For out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:24 Amplifiedyour-words-image

Do you believe for good things to happen in your life, but then the opposite comes out of your mouth? I have a partner in business who said she wanted her business to grow, and she told me all the things that she was doing to make that happen. It seemed like she was gauged in the right activity, but when she spoke her words were contrary to what she desired. She was saying things like, “I have no clue what I am doing wrong”. I am doing all the right things, but I never seem to get ahead”. “I can’t get anyone to join for the life of me”. It’s just me and my small team and I’m struggling just to get to my title monthly”. “This is just a struggle I don’t know if it’s worth it”. And so it was.

The repeated conversations almost always had a tone of defeat. How did this person see herself?  As one who would never get ahead because this is what her heart told her was true. The overflow of her heart was coming out of her mouth.

You may or may not know this but there is great power in your words.

Scripture tells us in James 3:2-12, the tongue is like a bit in a horse’s mouth or a rudder on a ship that steers the vessel.  James also says that the tongue “sets the whole course of one’s life on fire”.

Our words have the ability to bless or curse our lives and to create life or release death (negative circumstances) into our life.  The tongue – our words – has the ability to set the course of your life.  I believe that your life today is a direct result of your words that you have spoken over yourself or those spoken over you.

Today I am blessed because I have spoken over my life blessings and not curses. I have spoken favor and not defeat. My husband and children are blessed because of God’s goodness and the words spoken and prayed over them. I am the head and not the tail.

I am above and not beneath. I am blessed as I go in and blessed as I go out.

What about you? If you are not where you want to be today ask yourself what am I speaking. Is it blessings or curses? Are you speaking good things or bad?

It’s up to you, but I challenge to speak life and watch how things change for the better!
